Mazda announced earlier today that they will be introducing a more aggressive version of their fourth generation MX-5 Miata, called the Club Edition, next week at the New York International Auto Show. The Club Edition is said to be the most aggressive road-going version of Mazda’s little roadster. This is the third version of the new model that we have seen debuted before the car actually goes on sale. Mazda first introduced the original MX-5 at the New York Auto Show 25 years ago, which probably is why Mazda choose to introduce the Club Edition model there.

This is a photo from the MX-5 Accessories models from the Chicago Auto Show earlier this year. This is probably the closest thing to what the Club Edition will look like.
Mazda’s extremely short press release about the Club Edition gives almost no information about the car. In their secrecy, Mazda has not even released a picture of what the Club Edition might look like. The only detail that was released is that the Club Edition is that it will be powered by the same light-weight 2.0L engine that will be on all North American MX-5 models that is rated to produce 155 hp and 148 ft-lb of torque. If this new model will have the same engine as the other models, we think it’s safe to assume that the Club Edition will have some type of light-weight body with a carbon-fiber aero kit of some kind.
At this time, Mazda has not released any specific time for the Club Edition’s debut. We will continue to update if any more information becomes available.
