The Ferrari SF90 Stradale electric hybrid supercar isn’t just the first series production plug-in vehicle from the legendary Italian factory. It’s also the most powerful production car they’ve made.

A large part of that is due to the 90 degree V8 Turbo. It puts out a claimed 780cv, which equates to 769hp. Which makes it king of the Ferrari 8-cylinder engines. And then you also get three electric motors, adding 220cv (216hp), to make a total of 1000cv, or 985 horsepower.

The result means 0-100km/h in 2.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 6.7 seconds, utilising four wheel drive for the first time on a Ferrari sports car.
The power is handled by an 8-speed duel-clutch transmission which is controlled by onboard computers after a driver picks one of four power unit modes. You can choose Qualify for max power, Performance for fun, the default Hybrid mode, or eDrive for short journeys up to 25km in silence.

The new Ferrari SF90 Stradale Electric Hybrid Supercar has plenty of other talking points beyond the power delivery. There’s a full-electric front axle with two front electric motors feeding into it, for torque vectoring, electric traction control, and a brake-by-wire system with ABS and EBD, plus engine recovery.

And it’s not bad to look at, as you might expect. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale has been designed to cope with the 270kg weight of the hybrid system, and still come in at 1,570kg. Which means a record-breaking 1.57kg/cv weight to power ratio.

Hollow castings, a carbon-fibre bulkhead, and two new aluminium allows were used to give a stiffer and more rigid chassis. And the ‘quiet aluminium’ allow for the floor even reduces noise, vibration and harshness.
Ferrari has also worked hard on the aerodynamics of their new hybrid supercar, including a suspended win with two sections. One is fixed, and the other is an active device named the ‘shut-off Gurney’ which raises or lowers depending on the need for downforce.
At the front there is a system of vortex generators to keep you planted along with the front bumper and two diffusers. And even the wheels have an aerodynamic design to work like rotor blades and give extra downforce at the front.
Inside is more technology innovation, with a curved 16″ HD screen for the instrument cluster, touch commands and haptic buttons on the sterring wheel, and a HUD display.

For the first time, Ferrari will offer two versions of a car. You can choose the standard SF90 Stradale. Or the Assetto Fiorano version with Multimatic shock absorbers, a 30kg weight saving from more lightweight features, a high downforce carbon rear spoiler and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tyres.

The price of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale Electric Hybrid Supercar hasn’t been confirmed yet, but how much would you value a 340 km/h (211mph) Ferrari sports car which also lets you claim you’re saving the environment?
