Fancy seeing the 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP at the Nurburgring? The prototype for the limited edition model will be running demo laps as part of the 24 Hours race weekend at the legendary German circuit.

The 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP Prototype which will be in action is the basis for the 3,000 limited edition models going on sale next year. And it’s currently running set-up laps on the Nurburging-Nordschliefe to be ready for the public debut.

The ‘disguised prototype’ will be joined by the previous 2013 MINI John Cooper Works GP, and a 2006 MINI Cooper S with John Cooper Works Kit. Each of which was also a limited edition, of just 2,000 units. Making it a special series of laps for fans of the modern MINI.

And the 2020 John Cooper Works MINI looks to be pretty good. It features a 300hp+ 4-cylinder engine, wide open air intakes, and light alloy wheels. The car also stands out with the front and rear aprons, plus the noticeable roof spoiler.

It’s also likely to be quick. The 2013 MINI JCW GP lapped the famous Nordschliefe in a decent 8 minutes and 23 seconds. The 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP has already recorded a time under 8 minutes at the Nurburgring.

There’s obviously limited information about the new model, but the previous version had 218hp for 150mph and a 0-60mph of 6.1 seconds. So the 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP is likely to be really quick.

And if you can’t see the 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP at the Nurburgring, you can at least console yourself with this quick promo video.
