As we reported a few weeks ago, the internet rumor mill reported that Ford would be unveiling the latest version of their Ford GT racecar this past weekend at the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans. For once, the internet did not lie to us. The new Ford GT racecar, in all of its Red-White-and-Blue Glory, made its long anticipated debut last week at Ford’s Stand at Le Mans. The production and race car will make their road and racing debut next year in 2016 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Ford’s legendary 1-2-3 finish back in 1966.
Ford announced that the new GT race car will be, as expected, racing in next year’s FIA World Endurance Championship, and the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. The new racecar will also have the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that has achieved victories in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. Joining Ford on the new GT racecar will be Multimatic Motorsports, Roush Yates Engines, Castrol, Michelin, Forza Motorsport, Sparco, Brembo and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS). I think that most motorsport fans will agree that it will be good to see the Ford GT on the racetrack again.
