An airbag defect which could cause them to inadvertently deploy has led to a recall of more than 2.12 million vehicles in the U.S, including Acura MDX, Dodge Viper, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Liberty, Honda Odyssey, Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix and Toyota Avalon models made in the early 2000s.
Toyota and Honda owners should be particularly active in ensuring their vehicles are recalled as they are also subject to a previous recall for defective Takata airbags which can deploy with enough force to cause injury or even death to occupants.
There’s more information in a release by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
