Late yesterday, Ford released one of its planned Chicago Auto Show debuts: a new Police Interceptor Unity. Coming off the long term success of the legendary Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, Ford plans to continue its tradition of market leading police interceptors with the new styling and features of this new Police Interceptor.
Working with law enforcement agencies, Ford designed this newest Police Interceptor to be as customer-centric as possible, and will have a lot of different law-enforcement features. The pursuit lights will have 25-different pattern options for law enforcement agencies to choose from. The driver and passenger doors will have law enforcement approved bulletproof shielding. The new Police Interceptor Unity will also feature a surveillance mode that will warn the driver if something approaches the rear of the vehicle while locking all of the doors and raising the windows.

The new Ford Police Interceptor Unity will have a lot of cargo space to be as practical as possible for law enforcement agencies.
On the performance front, the new Police Interceptor Unity will have two engine options: a 3.7L V6 that makes 304 hp and 279 ft-lbs of torque, or, unsurprisingly, a 3.5L EcoBoost that makes 365 hp and 350 ft-lbs of torque. Both engine options will come with a six-speed transmission that will feature a special Pursuit Mode that will automatically switch from a normal, fuel-saving mode to a more aggressive mode. The Pursuit mode will activate whenever it detects high pressure being applied to the brakes, and aggressive acceleration and deceleration. The new Police Interceptor Unity will also have a specifically designed chassis and suspension to hold up to the demands of law enforcement.
The new Police Interceptor will be available this summer on a global scale in 80 different markets. It will be built at a Chicago plant, making the Chicago Auto Show the perfect place to debut the vehicle.
