Tesla has issued a voluntary recall covering all 90,000 Model S Sedans sold over the past three years. The reason is that a European buyer discovered that the front seat belt wasn’t correctly attached to the outboard lap pretensioner, which means that you wouldn’t get full protection in a crash.
The good news is that the problem was discovered before anyone was involved in an accident, although it will be interesting to see how the relatively small Tesla dealer network copes with the volume of cars being recalled – then again, it’s a much smaller number than are usually involved in similar cases by traditional manufacturers.
And with 0-60mph in as little as 2.8 seconds, you want to know your seatbelt is going to work!
