This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design edition. It’s the perfect car for anyone that loves to mix modern performance with retro design.
The first of four collector’s pieces in the Heritage Design strategy, the special edition Targa 4S will be limited to 992 units which is, of course, in reference to the current 911’s model code.
Changes are purely cosmetic. Under the bonnet, you get the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six pushing 444bhp through all four wheels via either an eight-speed PDK or seven-speed manual transmission. Top speed is 189mph and it’ll take 3.6 seconds to sprint to 62mph.
Porsche has taken historical design elements from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s and reinterpreted them for use alongside modern performance and equipment.
There are five exclusive colours available including the incredible Cherry Metallic paintwork in the pictures with gold contrasting badges. The other four colours are Black, Guards Red, GT Silver and Crayon.

Other new exterior design features include the white graphics on the doors and wings and Porsche’s 1963 crest in place of the current version. There’s also a Porsche Heritage badge on the rear of the car based on the one awarded to Porsche 356 owners who racked up 100,000km in their cars.
Inside, there are two choices in terms of the colour scheme – the Bordeaux Red and Atacama Beige pictured, or the significantly less shouty Atacama Beige and Black leather combo. Corduroy inserts in the seats and door trims add to the 50s feel.
The 911’s usual stainless steel, carbon fibre or timber trim inserts have been replaced with leather pieces. The leather is extended across the dashboard and used on the steering wheel. The instrument cluster and stopwatch have been given more of a retro look, too.
The unique touches continue on to the roof lining with perforated Alcantara being used on the roll hoop and windscreen pillars as a reference to the perforated vinyl used in the 60s and 70s.
So how much does this little trip down memory lane cost? Well, pricing for the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design edition starts at £136,643, about £27k more than the standard Targa. If you want to spend an extra £10k, you can have a matching watch (pictured above) as well, available exclusively to those buying the car.
