McLaren know how to make a good looking car – we all know that. Looking at the cars they design, the glorious 720S for example, you’d think they would be pretty difficult to improve on, right? Difficult, but not impossible…
It’s the McLaren Special Operations division that the responsibility falls to, but they do it bloody well and they’ve done it again. This is the MSO McLaren 600LT Spider, unveiled ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The one thing MSO don’t do is tamper with the car’s performance. That means it is still powered by the same 592bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 as the stock 600LT Spider, helping it to achieve an impressive 0-62mph time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 201mph. They have free roam on the rest of the car, though, and they’re getting clever with it.
They’ve used a new painting technique where the paint is compressed into a flexible film before it is applied to the car. This one is finished in ‘Dove Grey’ with ‘Napier Green’ highlights, a tribute to the 675LT. Other green highlights include the brake callipers, the centre mark on the steering wheel and the 12 o’clock marker on the interior clock. The retractable roof and the lightweight 10-spoke alloys are finished in black.
As you would expect, pretty much every carbon fibre option has been used on the MSO 600LT Spider, both inside and outside. The list of carbon components includes the bucket seats which are straight out of the terrifyingly quick McLaren Senna, the door trims and the centre console. There is also Alcantara everywhere which always looks smart.
As I said earlier, McLarens always look incredible even before MSO get their hands on them but this just looks ridiculously nice. I’d even go as far as to say I don’t think there will be a nicer 600LT Spider out there. Bold, I know, but it’s just that good looking.
What do you think of the MSO 600LT Spider? An improvement? No nicer than before or don’t actually like it at all? Let us know in the comments section below or via our Facebook and a Twitter pages.
