A couple of years ago, I brought you the news that Jaguar had unveiled two new F-Type GT4 race cars. They weren’t your typical race cars, though – they came with a twist. Now, they’re both up for sale.
The pair of GT4 racers along with spare parts are going under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions‘ ‘Race Retro Classic and Competition Car Sale’ on Friday 21st February.
The F-Type GT4s were developed as part of a partnership between Jaguar Land Rover’s SVO division, James Holder (co-founder of Superdry) and the Invictus Games Foundation. Their aim was to use the adrenaline and enjoyment of competitive racing to aid the rehabilitation of WIS (wounded in service) servicemen and women.

Based on the F-Type SVR, the GT4 underwent the usual race car makeover. Its 567bhp 5.0-litre supercharged V8 was downtuned and AWD was swapped for RWD as per FIA regulations, Other upgrades included racing-spec brakes, suspension, wheels, tyres and transmission components. The cars were also adapted with hand controls so that wounded drivers could compete equally with their able bodied competitors.
One of the cars you see raced in both 2018 and 2019 as car ’44’, the other raced in 2018 as car ’22’ and was used as a test car in 2019. Notable results for the cars include 1st and 2nd place finishes in GT4 Pro-Am races at Oulton Park and a 2nd place finish in a GT4 Pro-Am race at Spa.
They truly are excellent cars with an incredible story behind them. You can buy both cars and a significant catalogue of spare parts at the auction in February. The lot is expected to go for around £200,000 to £250,000.
