I’ve never owned a VW Beetle, and perhaps it’s the influence of the recent Mad Max film. But there’s something about this chopped Turbo VW Beetle project that makes me wish I had the mechanical skills to finish it. Especially as bidding is only at £750 right now.

It’s had a fair bit of work done – a heavy roof chop, a 5″ raise for the transmission and a rebuilt 1600cc engine with a turbo conversion that needs a Renault 5 Turbo blow through carb to finish it.

And apparently the floor has already been welded in place and new heater channels are already sorted. Yes, there’s still plenty to do before you could be driving it or drag racing it.
But how could any petrol head not want to see it finished and in action?
