We’ve all had the “what would you buy if you won the lottery” conversation, haven’t we? Mansions, yachts and supercars are all common answers. Now, though, I have a new answer for you – the ‘Campion Collection’, made up of six classic Martini Lancia race cars. I want it and I want it now.
This classic Lancia collection put together by multi-millionaire businessman John Campion is up for sale via London-based seller Girardo & Co for $7.5 million – just shy of £6 million. At a million quid per car, it’s actually a bit of a bargain.
Let’s take a look at each of the cars up for grabs…
Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo GR V

It’s made up of a Dallara chassis, a Pininfarina body and a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged Abarth engine producing 460bhp. A ridiculous power output for a car weighing only 780kg!
It was the first Lancia to race at Le Mans since the 1950s and, although it didn’t win, it did go on to win both the 1981 and 1982 World Endurance Championships.
Lancia LC1 Group VI
This is one of only four LC1 Group VIs ever built. Like the Beta Montecarlo Turbo GR V, it’s powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged Abarth engine. This time, though, power output is only 430bhp. The car does only weigh 665kg, however, so I don’t think you’d notice the difference.
This particular example took multiple wins including the 1982 Nurburgring 1000km race.
Lancia LC2 Group C

Yep, another endurance racer. This one weighs in at 850kg and its twin-turbo 3.0-litre Ferrari V8 puts out 720bhp. Mental.
It was driven by multiple drivers, most notably four-time Le Mans winner Henri Pescarolo.
Lancia Delta 037 Rallye Evo 2 Group B
If I could have only one of these cars, this would be the one I had in my garage. An absolute icon and the last RWD car to win a WRC world championship. This particular 037 was the factory test car for Markku Alen at the WRC Rally Finland. It also took victory at the 1985 Rally Citta di Mantova. The driver? Graziano Rossi, father of legendary MotoGP racer Valentino Rossi.
Its engine is a 2.1-litre supercharged Abarth unit sending 325bhp to the back wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The Evo 2 was the ultimate 037 and this is one of only 20 ever made.
Lancia Delta S4 Corsa Group B

Another Lancia Group B Rally monster. This one won the 1986 1000 Miglia and was driven by the likes of Marrku Alen and Miki Biasion in the World Rally Championship.
The S4 did 0-60mph in a staggering 2.5 seconds, and that’s on gravel. This was thanks to four-wheel drive and a 550bhp turbocharged and supercharged 1.8-litre engine. Some incredible numbers.
Lancia Delta HF Integrale 8v Group A
It’s the least powerful car in the collection but it was as successful as any of the others. Its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo put 275bhp through all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
It won its first ever rally – the 1988 Rallye de Portugal. From there, it went on to win 36 WRC world rally stages as a works Martini Lancia entrant and also won the 1988 World Championship with Miki Biasion at the wheel.
So, if anyone wants to lend me the £6 million for this Martini Lancia collection, I won’t stop you. I’m going to be honest, I probably won’t pay you back either. Also, click here to see where the Martini Racing livery on all of these cars ranks in my list of the most iconic liveries of all time.
