Nissan has revealed a special 2016 Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition which will be sold in limited numbers to celebrate the history of the legendary model. Less than 30 vehicles will come to the U.S, and there are no figures for the quantity being supplied to other countries at the moment.
The anniversary edition is based on the GT-R Premium model, with the same special ‘Silica Brass’ gold paint which was also used for the 2001 Skyline GT-R M Spec. It’ll also get a special gold-tone VIN plate inside the engine compartment and a commemorative plaque on the dashboard.
In addition to the 45th Anniversary Gold GT-R, other details were announced, including the fact that prices in the U.S would be unchanged in 2016, meaning that they are:
- Nissan GT-R Premium: $101,770
- Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition $102,770
- Nissan GT-R Black Edition $111,510
- Nissan GT-R NISMO $149,990
Both the Premium and Black GT-R models get 5 more horsepower this year from the hand-assembled 3.8 litre twin-turbo V6. That means it now produces 550hp and still makes 463 lb-ft of torque.
The GT-R Premium also gets new 20-spoke wheels, while the Black model keeps lightweight aluminium RAYS wheels and a carbon fibre spoiler.
But we still want the GT-R NISMO, which is available in limited numbers for the second year of availability in North America. You benefit from 600hp and 481lb-ft of torque with turbochargers similar to the GT3 race versions, optimised individual ignition timing and an upgraded fuel pump. Then there’s the 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and paddle shift, reduced weight and additional roll stiffness on the independent suspension, and better aerodynamics which generate an additional 220 pounds of downforce at 185mph compared to the standard GT-Rs. And we’d take the one available option, the Titanium Exhaust System to finish it all off.
