2015 Chicago Auto Show: The 370Z Roadster gets the NISMO Treatment.

February 13, 2015 By Ben Williams Leave a Comment

With the popularity of its tuned models growing, Nissan’s performance division, NISMO, has worked their magic on a 370Z Roadster and brought it to the Chicago Auto Show for its debut.  This new concept was created so that NISMO could see if it should reach into the open-air sports car market while continuing the success that NISMO has had with the current 370Z NISMO Coupe.

At its core, the new 370Z NISMO Roadster will share the majority of it parts with the current Coupe version.   The concept features an GT-R inspired aero-kit that has the typical NISMO red accents, and a Roadster specific carbon fiber spoiler.  The concept will also feature the typical  NISMO super-lightweight forged aluminum-alloy wheels by RAYS.  This pattern continues into the concept’s interior, featuring black Recaro leather seats, Nissan’s navigation system, RearView Monitor, and a Bose sound system.

The rear of the new 370Z Concept predominantly features this carbon-fiber spoiler.

The concept’s NISMO theme continues, as you would expect, to the performance.  The 370Z NISMO Roadster will have the same 3.7L DOHC V6 engine as the Coupe that makes 350hp and 276 ft-lbs of torque.  The Concept will have a 7-speed automatic transmission that has a manual shift mode with paddle shifters, adaptive shift control, and downshift rev matching.  On the suspension front, the concept features a NISMO-tuned independent suspension with special springs, stabilizer bars, large Nissan Sport Brakes, and an limited-slip differential.

As this is just a design concept, similar to Mazda’s MX-5 accessories concept, there is no release date for the 370Z NISMO Roadster at this time.  Nissan says that will be ganging customer interest throughout the rest of the Chicago Auto Show to see whether they should put it into production.
