Seven New Jeep Concepts will Headline the 49th Annual Easter Jeep Safari
Seven new Jeep Concept vehicles will make their way through the trails during the 49th Annual Easter Jeep Safari which starts tomorrow. The Easter Jeep Safari is attended by thousands of off-road enthusiasts, who each year enjoy a week of serious off-roading on some of the country’s most rugged and recognizable trails. This year’s Safari will take place on the trials around Moab, Utah.
The seven concepts feature some really cool themes and all of them have been outfitted with a small collection of production and prototype Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts. They were built by a small team of engineers, designers and fabricators that have been customizing production vehicles since 2002, and have introduced more than 50 concept vehicles for the enthusiasts who attend the popular Easter Jeep Safari. Below you can see this year’s fruits of the team’s labor.
Jeep Chief
The Jeep Chief was designed as a tribute to classic 1970’s era full-size Jeep Cherokee. Much of the exterior of the Chief was custom built for it, including the razor grill.
The Chief is based on a highly modified Wrangler body and chassis. The doors and windshield were chopped two inches to achieve the desired 1970’s look.
The Chief sports a selection of Jeep Performance Parts that include a two-inch lift kit with Fox shocks and front and rear Dana 44 axles with lockers, cold air intake and modified Rubicon rock rails.
Check out the Hawaiian themed interior complete with Jeep-designed “Surfer” pink, blue and white flowered cloth and leather-trimmed seats. The Chiefs interior is just as modern as it is classic with the included Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen media center.
Jeep Staff Car
The Jeep Staff Car was built as a salute to legendary Jeep military service vehicles. The open-air Wrangler concept vehicle highlights rugged functionality with heritage design cues. This Jeep is all about function over form.
The minimalist Jeep does not mean it will not perform. The Staff Car is powered by the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Staff Car will also have a Jeep Performance Parts 2-inch lift kit with Fox shocks and front and rear Dana 44 axles.
The minimalist interior features low-backed bench seats in the first and second row, an integrated roll cage and a painted steel floor in place of carpet. A built-in cooler draws its inspiration from an old artillery box and accommodates 85 cans.
Jeep Wrangler Africa
The Jeep Wrangler Africa is outfitted with a two-inch lift kit with Fox shocks, sway bar links and front and rear Dana 44 axles from Jeep Performance Parts. The Africa is powered by a 2.8-liter diesel engine mated to an automatic transmission.
The Africa has plenty of room for extra gear and auxiliary fuel tanks. This cargo area, inner roof and floor are finished in a durable spray-in truck bed coating.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Outlander
The Grand Cherokee Overlander was built to represent the rough-and-tumble side of Grand Cherokee. The Overlander is a rugged and dependable vehicle customized for the enthusiast interested in overland expeditions where they travel and camp out of their vehicle.
The Grand Cherokee Overlander has features such as 3.0-liter diesel V-6 engine, one-off front fascia, integrated front winch, tow hooks, larger wheel flares, and a two-person hard-shell rooftop tent that is easily deployable.
Jeep Renegade Desert Hawk
Jeep Renegade Desert Hawk is based on the Jeep Renegade, the newest Jeep SUV. The Desert Hawk was built for the ultimate desert adventure and is equipped with a selection of Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts.
The Renegade Desert Hawk is powered by the 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with MultiAir2 mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission with Jeep Active Drive Low. The Desert Hawk will also feature off-road rock rails, a skid plate kit, and Mopar’s trailer hitch receiver and roof rack.
The Desert Tan exterior features a Jeep Performance Parts body decal, a topographical hood decal that depicts the Fins and Things Moab trail.
The Desert Hawk’s interior has been outfitted with Mopar and Jeep parts, including Mopar Katzkin seat covers, body color bezel accents and Mopar all-weather floor mats.
Jeep Cherokee Canyon Trail
The Canyon Trail concept vehicle takes the “2015 Four Wheeler of the Year” Cherokee to the next level with its own selection of Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts.
The Cherokee Canyon Trail is powered by the 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir2 I-4 engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission with Jeep Active Drive Lock.
The Cherokee Canyon Trail’s Desert Tan exterior paint is accented with a Satin Black hood that includes a topographical hood decal showcasing Hell’s Revenge, a renowned off-road trail in Moab.
The Canyon Trail interior features Mopar Katzkin leather seat covers and accent stitching, JPP embroidered logo on the headrests, body color bezel accents, a cargo tray mat, Jeep Cargo Management System, Moab Off-road bag and all-weather floor mats
Jeep Wrangler Red Rock Responder
The Wrangler Red Rock Responder is designed to be a support vehicle purpose-built to traverse the world’s harshest terrain with premium off-road equipment to respond to any vehicle emergency with spare parts and tools stored in the built-in drawers and compartments of the cargo box.
The Wrangler Red Rock Responder is quipped with side cargo boxes that hold a variety of rescue equipment, as well as a cooler or a case of water.
