Ford Announces Production Numbers for the Shelby GT350 and GT350R Models

Ford announced their Shelby GT350R, the most track-capable production Mustang ever built, at the NAIAS earlier this year.  We were not certain how many of these Mustangs would be built until automaker announced this morning that there will be 37 of these track-ready Mustangs produced.  This number coincides with the some-what contested number of the original GT350 Mustang from 1965 that was featured in the video we posted this morning.

The Shelby GT350 will still be the monster that the GT350R is suppose to be, but it is built for the streets.

Ford also announced this morning the will also producing 100 street versions called the GT350 as well.  50 of these GT350’s will feature Ford’s technology package while the other 50 will feature the Track Package, with all of the models featuring Ford’s  powerful naturally aspirated engine ever, the same  5.2L dual overhead-cam V8 that will be in the GT350R.

These limited model runs will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the original GT350 Mustang, and in the memory of the famous Carrol Shelby, builder of many famous Ford racing vehicles, who passed away in 2012.
