If you’re incredibly rich, this is good news. If you’re not incredibly rich, it’ll just make you wish you were. Gooding & Company have announced that the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB pictured below is going to be sold at auction in Florida next month.
Now, there is a reason why this is only good news for rich people, that reason being the price tag. Having belonged to just three people in the 55 years since it was built, it is likely to sell for around $15-$17 million. That’s £10.3-£11.7 million to us Britons!
It’s the 22nd of only 56 short wheelbase California Spiders ever produced and includes a rare and much sought after feature, the covered headlights.
Gianfranco Frattini, an industrial designer, was the first to own the car. In 1963, it appeared in an Italian film, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, alongside actress Sophia Loren. In 1978, it was passed on to its second owner and its current owner acquired it in 1985.
Designed by renowned coachbuilder Scaglietti, the Ferrari 250 GT is one of the most attractive cars ever to grace the world’s roads. A true work of art.
