One-millionth Chinese-built BMW rolls off production line

The millionth BMW built in China, a BMW 3 Series Sedan long version produced exclusively for the Chinese market, has rolled off the assembly line in Shenyang.

It’s the result of a 12-year joint venture with Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd and the cars are built purely for the Chinese market. The original Dadong plant in Northeastern Shenyang has been joined by the Tiexi plant in Western Shenyang in 2012, allowing a maximum production of 300,000 units annually, which will be increased to 400,000 over the next two years. The locally-produced portfolio of 3 models will also be increased to six (From the BMW X1, 3 Series and 5 Series).
