Lucky Escape for French Marshals at Magny Cours

Logic would generally suggest that the slower motorsport classes would be less dangerous. After all, you’re travelling slower in a one-make saloon series than in Formula One, so you’d feel a bit more secure. And yet if you want car-related carnage, entry level and one-model racing seem to always deliver more than the average race championship. As this lucky escape for French marshals at Magny Cours proves.

You’d think it’d be a fairly easy weekend covering the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup. But just look at what happens when two drivers tangle on the start straight and spear into the wall at the end of pit lane. Two marshals and a photographer must have had the fright of their lives.

Thankfully the drivers, marshalls and photographer were all OK. Which is great news considering part of the safety wall and marshal post broke away in the impact, narrowly missing the photographer.
