Dodge has proven that with the HellCats that it does one thing really well: horsepower. Because of this, Dodge usually does not come to mind whenever you are thinking about high-tech racing technology such as using lightweight materials. However, Dodge has proven that with the previous Viper ACR’s that they know how to make a track capable car. So, when Polyphony Digital, Inc, creators of the Gran Turismo videogame franchise, tells Dodge to crazy with a design, the result is something fantastic. Their creation, the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo, is now available in Gran Turismo 6.

At its core, the Tomahawk was designed by the SRT team to be a look into the future of what a Dodge performance vehicle will look like. While the Tomahawk does have many visual cues from the Viper, there is something rather “un-Dodge” about the car. Firstly, the car is a single-seat, AWD vehicle; a combination that Dodge rarely ever uses in their vehicles. Secondly, while the Tomahawk’s rear wheels will be powered by a massive V10, the front wheels will be powered by unusual compressed air driven pneumatic energy system that will basically function like an F1 car’s KER system. This system can also operate the different, always moving aerodynamic panels, change the variable spring rate, and pressurize the driver’s G-suit. Dodge really has gone crazy with this future concept.
The SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo S, GTS-R and X, a combined horsepower figure over 5,000 hp.
Dodge has created three different performance levels of the SRT Tomahawk which can all be driven in GT6. The entry-level Tomahawk S will have a 7.0 L V10 that delievers 792 hp, combination with the 215 hp pneumatic drive, for a total system output of 1,007 hp. This will be the heaviest version of the SRT Tomahawk, coming in at just over a ton, and will easily reach speeds over 250 mph.
The racing Tomahawk GTS-R will push the system output to 1,450 hp, with the V10 creating 1,137 hp and the pneumatic drive producing 313hp. This will be the lightest version of the Tomahawk, coming in at around 1,459, giving the Tomahawk nearly a one-to-one power to weight ratio. The GTS-R will be able to reach speeds over 300 mph.

Lastly, the ultimate Tomahawk X will push the technology to the very edge of performance. The total system output is an eye watering 2,590 hp, with the V10 creating 2,168 hp and the pneumatic drive producing 422hp. This much power will push the Tomahawk X past speeds of 404 mph, and will require the use of the G-suit in-order to protect the driver.
Dodge has always been the company that pushes the limits of technology, whether it is from the famous 426 Hemi, or the still massive V10 in the Vipers. This crazy creation is further proof that Dodge will continue this mad power creation and styling. We sort-of want PlayStation 3’s now so we can go try this thing.
