Awesome 20 minute RUF CTR Yellow Bird Nurburgring Video

If you like cars, when you have to watch this awesome 20 minute RUF CTR Yellow Bird Nurburging Nordschliefe video. Back in 1987, the RUF CTR Yellowbird was unveiled with an enlarged and tuned Porsche 3.2 flat six cylinder engine, lighter body panels, an integrated roll cage, upgraded brakes and suspension with a custom transmission, and a body adapted to improve the aerodynamics.

What was produced was one of the legendary supercars of all time – 469hp, 408 lb-ft of torque and a weight of just 1,170kg gave a 0-60mph of 3.7 seconds, and a top speed of around 211mph. And to demonstrate it, Alois Ruf commissioned a 20 minute film called ‘Fascination Nurburgring Ruf CTR Yellow Bird’, featuring Auto Motor & Sport test driver Stefan Roser. And the German driver spends most of his time demonstrating his Scandinavian-inspired driving style by getting the RUF sideways around most of the legendary circuit.

The result is a simply amazing film. Although drifting the RUF sideways around most of the corners wasn’t the fastest way to lap the Nordschliefe, it’s incredibly impressive. As is how much input Roser needs to put in even when he’s on a relatively straight part of a track. The RUF did hold a lap record at the circuit, but that was set without as much drifting action.

It still looks incredibly impressive now – almost 30 years later. And it’s impossible to watch without browsing Nurburgring trips or at least trying to emulate on a computer or console racing game (For instance Assetto Corsa (PC), Project CARS (All formats), or Gran Turismo (PlayStation). Assuming you didn’t invest the $223,000 approximate price for the RUF CTR Yellow Bird back in 1987.
