Nissan and NISMO Want To Teach You About Their New LMP1 Car
If you have not been living under a rock recently, you would have probably heard about Nissan’s new GT-R LM NISMO race car. Since it is a LMP1 car, the race car will have the class mandated gas-powered, turbocharged V6, and energy-recovering hybrid system which is reported to produce 1250hp. What is interesting is that in a class that is predominantly favors RWD-biased cars; NISMO’s car is FWD-biased. Since their announcement of the car back in February, racing fans and car guys alike have been trying to figure out how this would work.

Nissan and NISMO have announced that they are ready to let everyone know more about their new race car. On Friday, they introduced NISMO University, which will give fans an in-depth look at some of the technical secrets that NISMO uses to compete in the highest level of racing, and how that technology will translates to the road. According to Nissan, NISMO University will be a “unique episodic multi-media program” that will incorporate behind-the-scenes videos available on NISMO TV , infographics, lecture notes, and literate photography, renderings and drawings in order to create informative lectures.
The educational program started at the first round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Silverstone last weekend with an on-site fan forum and video. NISMO University will be featuring classes on the basics of an LMP1 cars, the difference between typical LMP1 cars and the Nissan LMP1 car, the importance of lubricants and cooling fluids, and driver development. NISMO University will be free of charge, and since it is online can be taken from anywhere in the World. Nissan also announced that a NISMO University Master’s Degree can be obtained with more information promised about it in the future.
