Classic 1982 Ford Capri found in Nottinghamshire boating lake

A classic 1982 Ford Capri has been found and recovered from the bottom of a Nottinghamshire boating lake. Staff at the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont found the classic car during a routine weed inspection.

A Nottinghamshire Police dive team investigated and recovered the Capri, which turned out to be a blue saloon providing a home to four very large eels.

There’s no information on how the car ended up in the lake. It was registered in 1982 and a check with the DVLA showed that it was last taxed in 1993.

Over the 20 years the Y-reg Ford Capri was sunk, it accumulated sand as well as water and aquatic life. That meant using lifting bags in addition to winching the car out.

The 1982 Ford Capri is estimated to be worth around £15,000 in good condition. It’ll make a good project for some!
