Chevy’s New FNR Concept is Amazing!

It’s not often that Chevrolet makes an autonomous electric vehicle concept, but when they do, they go crazy with the styling.  Meet the Chevrolet-FNR, Chevy’s newest concept that was designed to be a unique, intelligent vehicle that future generations should expect to see in the future.

As part of this, the FNR Concept has an extremely futuristic design.  The carbon-fiber and composite body panels and bubble design are highlighted by crystal laser headlights and taillights, what Chevy are calling “dragonfly” swing doors, and a futuristic sliver and blue color design.  The futuristic technology continues with the range of sensors and roof-mounted radar that allows for the autonomous driving.  Even the electrics in the FNR are futuristic with magnetic, hub-less electric motors attached directly to the wheels that have wireless-charging capabilities.

The interior reflects the futuristic design effortlessly.  The FNR has a projected instrument panel that gives customers an idea of what it could be like in the future.  The concept also does not need keys but will use eye scanners to identify its owner.   Since the FNR is an autonomous vehicle, the front seats can be turned around to face to passengers while the car is driving its self.  The driver, however, can take control of the vehicle using the gesture control feature.  The FNR can also serve as a “personal assailant”, and can map out the best routes between destinations.

Overall, the FNR looks like it drove out of a sci-fi film such as “Blade Runner” or “Tron.”  This, of course, is just a concept, so there is no word when Chevy will put this into production.  However, Chevy has said that we can expect to see this type of technology in their cars by 2030.
