BMW Unveils an Update to their X1 Crossover
BMW is looking to challenger Mercedes’s GLE Coupé and their potential GLC Concept with an update to their X1 Crossover. BMW has sold A LOT of the previous generation of the X1 so BMW felt it was time for an update. This new X1 promises to add more passenger and luggage space than the precious model, and styling that will be very signature X model series looks while slightly growing to allow for this increased cargo space.
The X1 has also received some powertrain updates as well. Customers will be able to choose from five different fuel-efficient, Four cylinder Boxster engines including three gas engines and two diesel engines. These engines will range from 150 hp to 231 hp. These engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a eight-speed Steptronic transmissions. Most of the new X1 will be outfitted with the lightweight xDrive AWD system while two models, the X1 sDrive20i and the X1 sDrive18d will be receiving newly-developed FWD system from the 2 Series. On top of all of this, the X1 will have the option of Dynamic Damper Control that will add sports car handling to the ruggedness of a SUV.
The new X1 will be launched later this year in October. While I am not a huge fan of Crossovers, except maybe the Aztek I drive, this new X1 does look quite nice. However, that being said, it looks like a BMW which all look alike to begin with.
