Audi is Bringing Their New R8 to the Geneva Motor Show

Lexus’s stupidly named hatchback and BMW’s three similar styled vehicles will not be alone at the this years Geneva Motor Show.  Audi has announced in video form that their new R8 will be there as well.  The video is in German, but they did include English Subtitles.

This is the photo that Audi supplied when they announced its new high-beams. Not fair, Audi, not fair.

The R8 looks to have received a new redesign that gives Audi’s brute a more aggressive look that includes what appears to be some ducting inspired by the R8 GT3 race car.  Audi has also announced that the R8 will also have high-tech high-beams called a laser spot that produces twice the range of LED-headlights.  The laser spot made its debut as a high-beam in the R8 LMX last summer after being used as headlights in the Audi R18 e‑tron quattro race car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The good news from the video is that Audi will keep the naturally aspirated V10 in the R8 will not be following the thread of forced induction and smaller engines that has been the norm in recent years.  This means that the R8 will get to keep its signature sound.  The newest R8 models will come with two variants of the V10 engine: a 510 hp version, and a 610 hp version called the V10 Plus.

With the combination of the new look, headlights, and it’s legendary V10 engine, the R8 is looking like it will continue its trend of power, performance, and technology.  We will get to see what the R8 is really like at the Geneva Motor Show on March 3rd.
