Since 2001, Volvo has allowed Volvo owners to control and monitor their cars from their smart phones. Now, with the evolution into smart watches, Volvo On Call has made the transition over to these new devices. The update for the apps will deliver new connectivity between Volvo vehicles with the smart watches such as the Apple Watch and Android Wear. Obviously, this will allow Volvo drivers to control settings, lock/unlock, locate, and many other Volvo services from their smart watches.
Among this major update, Volvo On Call will also be receiving a brand new design based on Volvo’s Sensis interface from the new XC90. The update will also add enhanced “send-to-car” capabilities for navigation. The update will come sometime by the end of June. Volvo seems to be determined for us to never need keys again, let alone actually drive.
