It has been over a month since the first new Ford GT rolled off the production line and now the technical specifications have finally been revealed.
As you would expect it is very, very fast. With a top speed of 216mph, it’s 11mph faster than one of its main rivals, the Ferrari 488GTB. There’s no official 0-60mph speed as of yet but it’s only a matter of time before someone tests it.
The 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 that powers the Ford GT produces an incredible 638bhp at 6,250rpm, but it’s still slightly down on power compared to the 488’s 661bhp. It’s also slightly down on torque with 550lb ft and 5900rpm – the Ferrari produces 560lb ft.
A dry weight of 1,385kg is also very close to, but just behind, the 1,370kg Ferrari.
In terms of track speed, Ford claim that the GT is a second faster around Calabogie Motorsports Park (Ottawa, Canada) than another of its rivals, the McLaren 675LT, and a whopping three seconds quicker than the Ferrari 458 Speciale!
if you want, you can feast your eyes on the full spec sheet here, it really does make for an interesting read.
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, try this little video of the GT tearing around Daytona – it does look very impressive.
