First of all, I would like to clarify that by ‘two-wheeled’ I do not mean on a motorbike… China’s Han Yue has lapped the entire 12.9 mile Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit on two of his Mini Cooper S’s four wheels!
As far as lap records go, this one is a little bit on the slow side but just as impressive as any other. Yue’s attempt took 45 minutes at an average speed of about 17mph. According to the man himself, he could have gone faster but for a “very strong vibration” from one of the rear tyres. Bridge to Gantry reports that Yue was “sweating and visually in pain” for most of the run which, honestly, is no surprise.
Obviously, the Mini Cooper S used was far from standard. A welded front-diff, a solid-rubber front tyre and a roll cage were among the alterations made to the car. You can see the video of the whole 45 minute lap below, if you’ve got time…
This isn’t the only record Han Yue holds, either. In actual fact, he already had two Guinness World Records. The first record is for the tightest parallel parking ever. Somehow, Yue managed to squeeze his Mini Cooper into a gap only 8cm longer than the car. His second record is for the most donuts around a car driving on two wheels in one minute. You can the videos of these two records below.
