The 2017 Renault Clio Cup visited Donington Park over the Easter Weekend. And it lived up to a long-earned reputation for close action. But in this case, the Renault racers didn’t make it through a minute of the first lap before the red flag had to be brought out.
The race had to be halted after leaders Paul Rivett, Lee Pattison and Shayne Deegan tangled trying to take the same line through Redgate, the first corner on the circuit. And that led to Deegan and the others ending up on the grass, before returning to the track. With Deegan’s car sliding back onto the circuit, that led to chaos. And a big UK Renault Clio Cup pile-up, including a massive and terrifying series of rolls for Lucas Orrock.

The race was eventually restarted, and the win taken by Mike Bushell. Meanwhile there are some hefty repair bills for cars and new sets of clean racing overalls. And the Renault Clio Cup maintains a reputation for plenty of action.
