In his day, George “Big George” Foreman was one of the most feared boxers in heavyweight history. The two-time World Champion defeated the likes of the previously unbeaten Joe Frazier and future hall-of-famer Ken Norton. He also fought in the famous ‘Rumble in the Jungle’, losing to the late, great Muhummad Ali. If you don’t know him for his history as a boxer, you’ll know him for his grills – they’re awesome.
Anyway, we’ve gone off topic. The point I’m trying to make is that as a boxer he was scary and extremely powerful, so really, it made perfect sense for him to own a Lamborghini Diablo VT and said Lambo is now up for sale.
Foreman acquired the Diablo after his final fight back in 1997. He’s the only registered owner from new and since ’97, it has only covered 1,907 miles making it practically brand new. Being a Roadster, the Lambo comes with four-wheel drive and a removable carbon roof panel. It has newer headlights and brake cooling ducts and a different front bumper to earlier models. It’s also packing a 5.7-litre V12 which kicks out nearly 500bhp!
Whoever buys this Diablo will get a whole load of other cool items as part of the sale. These include the original registration and title card, a pair of signed boxing gloves, a signed Foreman grill, a framed picture and ticket stub from ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’ along with loads more “miscellaneous George Foreman boxing memorabilia”.
It’s being sold by Mecum Auctions in their Monterey sale (18th-20th August) and is expected to fetch anything from $285,000 to $325,000. What do you think? Take a look at some more pictures below and let us know!
