It may well be the middle of a very cold winter but that hasn’t stopped Aston Martin from unveiling their latest convertible car. This is the Vanquish S Volante.
Obviously, the first thing I want to talk about is the appearance – just look at it. If there is anyone out there who doesn’t think this thing is absolutely beautiful, you’re entitled to your opinion but you’re wrong. Fact. With its carbon front splitter and rear diffuser, four exhaust pipes and those diamond-turned alloys, it really is very enjoyable to look at.
The Vanquish S Volante is powered by the same naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 as the coupe. That means 695bhp and 465lb ft of torque.
Performance figures haven’t yet been released but it’ll obviously be heavier than the coupe. With that in mind, we can expect just shy of the coupe’s 3.5-second 0-62mph time and 201mph top speed. Having said that, it does get the same 21.6mpg so we could be surprised.
Anyone who tells you they have bought the Vanquish S Volante with headroom in mind is a liar. They’ve bought it for the sound. The lack of a roof means you’ll hear nothing but the monstrous sound of that naturally aspirated V12 – probably making its last appearance in an Aston – via those four exhausts.
Prices haven’t been announced yet but with the coupe costing just under £200,000, a price of around £212,000 is predicted. That’s a lot of money but I’m sure there are more than enough tunnels in the world to justify your purchase.
